How long will this world stay green?

Our world is being darkened by us, humans. Don't you find that a bit sad? I bought a store on a lake and I own a bit of shoreline. That shoreline is FILLED with gunk and mush! It is so discusting that the community puts it as a health problem. I am currently on a project to clean it up, which in my opinion is helping the community and environment. I was wondering what it is like in other places in this world and what we could do ourselves to clean it up. Think about it, if our world dies, where would we go. We would die ourselves.

Please, show us how you can save the world, I've helped my community - you can too.

  1. read a book called endgame volumes one and two.....by: derrick jenson........personally, i do not believe in buying pieces of this earth....it contributes to the problem

  2. i plant trees at my school, and pick up trash of the ground when i walk home from school. i bike ride more than i take a car. when im older i want to get a hydrogen fuel cell (car that runs on water).. i cant beileve how careless people are to our planet.

  3. I think we all have to do our bit, but what we're actually talking about is saving humankind, not Earth, which has been around for 4.5 billion years and will still be here until the Sun goes Red Giant in approximately another 2 billion years.

Have you heard of James Lovelock's Gaia hypothesis. Earth won't care about global warming, it will simply reach a new equilibrium. The big motivating question is will we be on it?

  4. That is wonderful! Today my university had a cleanup around campus and they picked up dozens of bags of trash.

You don't have to become a scientist, but picking up trash and recycling makes a huge difference.

I am minoring in Earth Science and getting a masters in Environmental science or marine biology. I also became vegetarian. How does that help?! Well, I am not supporting the fisheries that are whiping out the 2 million year old Leatherback Turtle accidently while fishing for swordfish and other  fish. I am also not buying into Mc'Donalds corporations that buy out land in the rainforest and cut all trees down to start pastures. I hope to make a diffence!

    I hope you do to!
