Question:

How long would a 12v DC car battery last providing a constant inverted AC output of 230V @ 1000W?

Can I power a 230V popcorn maker all day @1000W from one single charge of a 12V DC car battery (using a power invertor) without a generator or similar power source to trickle-charge the battery throughout the day?

If not, what is the best portable solution to power the machine (apart from using a Mains supply)?

Thanks.

  1. No! 1000 watts, (with 100% efficiency) would pull 80 amps from a 12 V battery. I would give it just a few minutes tops. A gasoline powered motor generator good for at least 1200 watts output is the solution.

  2. a power inverter only has 110 volts the 1000w is what the wattage use of the appliance you want to power with the inverter, most TV sets use 35 watts and a microwave depending on the size will max out at the 1000w.and the battery that you are using to power the inverter, depends upon the size of the reserve capacity of that battery.the best would be a marine battery with a reserve power of around 120 mins.so you will need to get a generator that has the capacity to handle the 230v that your popcorn maker needs..a power inverter wont work...

  3. That is a lot of power.  You would be lucky to get 1 hour from your battery.

There is NO portable battery solution.  What you need is a generator.

    Good Luck...
