An Egyptian guy at work said it took him 18 hours.  He divorced his American wife when he got citizenship, then flew to Egypt to marry an Egyptian woman.

largely depends on transits and airline schedules but an average of 18-24 hours is very common

It depends if you have a direct flight and how many stops you will have until you get to your destination.  You would arrive the following day.  I was on a plane itself for about 12 hours but the whole trip took 16 hours because I was in Paris for 4 hours.
