It depends on how big it is, and what shape.  If it was 1 pound of cork, it would never fall at all.  If it was 1 pound of lead, in a round ball,  it would fall at about about 10 km/hr.   In order to fall 11,000 meters (the deepest part of the ocean), it would take 1 hour or so (assuming that it did not meet any vertical water currents).


  2. it depends how buoyant the weight is, if it was metal i would say about an hour as the deepest parts of the ocean can be up to 11,033 metres which is so deep if you put everest in there it would completely disappear.

  3. It could take from 10 to 20 minutes depending on the shape of the object.  Water drag is many times that of air so shape is important.  An arrow-like shape will probalby fall the fastest becuase it presents the smallest cross-section to the line of decent.
