How long would it take for a corpse to release its smell?

is it possible if the smell started to be strong withing 15 metres of distance in 1 day?

  1. Actually, in outdoor conditions, flies arrive within minutes of death (They can smell it hundreds of feet away.)  

    As for an odor that we could detect, it all depends on the conditions, i.e., weather, temperature, etc.


  2. Not sure, but it's generally accepted the flies will arrive after about 3 or 4 hours, in an open environment.

  4. I'm wondering why you'd ask such a question?  Tis rather ...err...creepy!

  5. At least 3 days.....thats how long it took for the chook i left in the bin to attract flies to it and then have maggots crawling over my floor. (NOTE:- Chook in Australia means Chicken).

    However, if your talking about Human corpses.......About a week.
