How long would it take for a custody court be overr?

Im trying to live with my mom and i want to asap but she lives in a whole other state than my dad. I talked to her and shes gunna go though all that but how long should that take before she does have custody of me?

I have no clue how long i just want an estimation because i dont know if this should take months or weeks or years or what because my dad will try to keep me here.

  1. Brandi, it depends on a lot of things.  The case load of the court she's filing in, (that goes by size of city), how complicated the case is, if your father contests it it would take a few hearings to get resolved, that could go as long as a year or more.

    Sorry, but no one will be able to give you an honest timeline on it.  Minimum, without your dad arguing about it, and her doing everything it takes, would be 6 months.  If he contests it, at least a year.
