I had three accidents in a two month period,in a tractor trailer.

two of the accidents were vehicle sideswiped, little damage and one was when my trailer door came unlatched from my trailer and broke two of the henges, but the company who I worked for counted it against me.So how long would it take for them to fall of my driving record by them being so close. For example:when you get tickets on your MVR

  1. Tickets, accidents, etc. are chargeable for three years (meaning that they will be used to factor your premium as well as factoring into whether or not you qualify for "standard" rates.)

Even after the three years, when they are no longer used for rating purposes, they can still be used for as long as five years to determine rating class. In other words, you may still be stuck in non-standard rates even beyond the time you actually are charged for the incidents.

You may not notice because the rates would go down if the charges were removed.

  2. The accidents never fall off your motor vehicle record,  they are a part of history.   However,  most insurance companies will only look at the last three years when determining rates.    How long a potential employer wishes to go back is simply company policy.    Whether the incidents show up on your DAC report depends on whether the company reports them,  or if they show up on your MVR.

For your protection,  get copies of all reports from either the investigating police department (preferred)  or your safety department.   You have the right to have a copy of your  personnel file.      Remember,  companies are required by law to go back 10 years in your employment history if you apply to them.

If there is anything incorrect on your DAC,  you have the right to contest/respond to it.
