  1. if you practice religiously, about 5-10 yrs IF your instructor is GOOD.

  2. violin is very difficult, in the begining. after about 7 months, you'll be pretty good. if your taking lessons at school only and you want to get REALLY good, start taking private lessons! it helps soooooooooo much, trust me!!! i shud no!

  3. depending on your dedication to the violin and the amount of practice you put into it, I would have to say it would take anywhere between 1-3 years to get really good. Just keep on practicing and takin lessons you will be a pro in no time

  4. it depends on how many years. but it takes a really long time to get really good. It also matters how many lessons you take and how much practice you get.

  5. It takes about five years to get into the violin, and that's with a good teacher and a very great deal of hard work.

Studies -- at Harvard and elsewhere -- indicate that, no matter what the subject area, it takes 10 years to master any skill.  I think 10 years is about right to get "really good" at the violin.

The thing is, too, if you do art because you want people to admire you, you're doomed from the beginning.  Art is done because the artist is helpless to do anything else.
