Question:

How long would it take me to master...?

I have less than a year to learn both Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata #14 3rd movement, AND fantasie-impromptu. I have been playing for about 7 years, but I'm a little rusty.

Can I pull it off in a few months? Any tips?

  1. Well, with proper guidance from a good teacher, yes you can pull it off. It also depends on how hard you work and how "rusty" you are.

Both pieces require extremely good technique, especially in the right hand. If you want to play these two pieces well, you will need to work very hard.

There is also a very lyrical part in the middle of the impromptu that requires you to put your soul into it :)

    Good luck!

  2. practice every single day, no excuses. Sports..no. Work a line until its perfect, go onto the next line, work it until it is perfect..and so on. It always works.  Listen to recordings of them constantly and they will seep into your brain and be easier to master.  Good luck.  If it's any consolation, my idiot friend can play both fantasie and moonlight..and he's not a complete god on the piano.
