How long would it take me to travel 40 light years at 0.8c?

Had an exam the other day....the answers been bugging me...can someone help please! So basically Ive traveled a distance of 40 light years at 0.8c the speed of light...how long did it take me to travel those 40 light years? The measurment is relative to an observer on earth...so how years on earth would it take the the space ship to travel that distance?

  1. an external observer, 40/0.8 = 50 years

  2. 50 years for the observer on Earth, 30 years for you. (the time dilation factor is 1.66* (* = repeating digit))
