  1. An eye blink really.  I ride 8 miles and it takes just under a half an hour.  It will depend on route, conditions and your conditioning.

    But for a person like you describe on that terrain I think you can realistically average 10-12 mph right away - without hardly breaking a sweat!  At that speed you might even get bored!

    So less than 15 minutes I would say, heck maybe even 10 minutes tops.  It may actually be faster than driving or taking the bus!

  2. I normally ride about 2x as fast as david c about 47 MPH on my MTB. So I'd do it in about 3:55.1

    Now you probably can't do that so add on a couple minutes say 8 minutes total.

  3. depends on how fast you ride or go if theres wind for ex I am healthy and go about 23.5mph every were i go so 3 miles would take me 8 mins someone who gos 10mph than 22mins

  4. MR, check the calibration on your watch.  The correct answer is 12 minutes, 13.643 seconds.

  5. well for me to bike to my friends house which is 2 miles on the dot it take 25 min but thats alot of up hills so im guessing straight at a steady pace 20-25

  6. MR & Silver:

    Hate to be the hall monitor but it is;

    12 minutes, 13.643 seconds EXACTLY

    Come on guys you know the rules, no miss calibrated 1 mississippi's.

  7. It took my wife 8 years to go three miles on her bike ;-)

    I can do it in about 9 minutes.

  8. I can do better than approximate.

    The number you seek is: 12 minutes, 13.655 seconds.

    Of this I'm certain.

    EDIT: silver... Watch? I was supposed to use a watch? I just counted... 1-1000, 2-1000, 3-1000...

  9. Assume that the person would ride at about 12 to 15 mph, so a 3 mile ride would take about 15 minutes.

  10. For me, it would take approximately 18 minutes, probably longer because I cannot make it that far yet. Based on my time today, My average miles per hour (mph) is approximately 9 (I went 1-1/2 miles which took about 10 minutes).  But that's because I only started riding again recently. I'm about 100lbs overweight and have not been on a bicycle for almost 10 - 12 years and have bad knees. Someone who is of average height, weight and health should be able to easily cut this time by probably 1/4 to 1/2 I would guess.
