  1. Try it and let us know.

  2. Well, although there are no good roads at all the coast, and at some areas this is very risky, here is the answer given by Secretaria de Comunicaciones (mexican government):

From Tijuana, Baja California (most northwestern city) to Tapachula, Chiapas (most southern city at pacific coast), and going trhu the coast (wich is not the shortest way, but visiting Puerto Peñasco, Hermosillo, Mazatlán, Tepic, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Acapulco and Huatulco) it takes 47 hours driving (no resting time included)

From Tapachula to Cancún, Quintana Roo, visiting Chetumal (Quintana Roo's capital): 17 hours driving.

From Cancún to Matamoros, Tamaulipas (visiting Mérida, Campeche, Villa Hermosa, Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz; it means all the Gulf of México) it takes 25 hours driving.

So, the whole tour is= 47+17+25= 89 hours only driving; it doesn't include resting time.

So, if you drive 8 hours as average and take one day to see the local place and rest, it would take about 23 days, three weeks.

It is not that much, if you have the time, the money and the vehicle.

Remember: Don't drive here in México at night.

Special risky points in the route: from Vallarta to Manzanillo and from there to all the south.

  3. Mexico i more thna 1000 000 sqr miles there is something like 3000  miles of coast line and not all the highways are good specially on the south of Mexico.

Think like a month at the most, with no rush and stoping in a few places.
