  1. I'd estimate 5 days and $750 for gas.

Bear in mind that Town Cars *SUCK* for mileage.

  2. Whoa.  Turn that car back in and say you want a Ford Focus, Kia Rio, Corrola, Prius or the most efficient car they have.  Fuel is going to cost TWICE as much for that Town Car.

Orlando to San Francisco is 2900 miles.  For a Town Car, EPA rating is 15/23.  So say you really get 20mpg, that's 145 gallons or $560.   Toyota Corrola, 26/35 (say 32) = $360.  Ford Focus, 23/31 (say 28) = $414. Toyota Prius (Hertz rents them), 48/45 (say 40) = $280.

Unless you REALLY need the space - dump it.  Hit http://www.fueleconomy.gov to look at MPG for various cars.  You'll also save money on the rental, most likely.

How long?  Check Mapquest or Yahoo Maps, but Yahoo Maps says 2900 miles from Orlando to S.F. is 41:45, averaging 69 mph.

Let me tell you -- that's not gonna happen.  I've gone from California to Texas on I-10 a few times when fuel was cheap and trucks all cruised at 75-80. Cruising with them, the best I could average was 65 mph including fuel stops, and it was no fun at all, let me tell you!   So Yahoo Maps' times do not include traffic, breaks, rest stops, motel stays, meals, or anything at all!   So cut yourself a lot of slack, depending on your driving style. I like to sleep 8 hours, enjoy 2 1-hour sitdown meals, and spend 2-4 hours a day exploring.  So for me, "42 hours" makes for either 3 hurried days or 4 leisurely ones.

Keep in mind high speed also makes your cost of fuel go up.  That's why some trucks are going slower now.

If you're going through L.A., it's best to time it so you miss the morning and evening commute hour.  Try to hit San Bernadino either between 9am and 1pm, or after 6pm.

  3. probably a few days

  4. The total drive time is 55hrs depends on how many hrs and stop you make.(5 days)

You can rent a car at Avis which will let you drop the car in any city it may cost you above $45 per day.($270)

Approx miles is 3000, average gas price is $4.00

Total gallons Approx150 @ $4.00 you will spend around $600

    Motel around $350

    Food $200

    Total expense is $1420

  5. a day and a half to 2 days

  6. Florida to Los Angeles is approximately 2500 to 2700 miles.  Eating, filling up, detouring, bad traffic, detours, weather etc, you'll be lucky to average 55mph.   My best guess would be 4 to 5 days with 10 to 12 hour driving days.

Take the miles, divide by miles per gallon that the Lincoln gets and average cost of probably 4 dollars a gallon should put you in the ballpark.

  7. Its about  27 hours of driving, 1900 miles minimum, at least $400 in gas. Car rental is usually at least $40 a day.

  8. What speed you gonna average?

  9. you could do it in 4 or 5 days

  10. probably like 2 days maybe =S

  11. Driving much faster than the speed limit and stopping only when absolutely necessary...and taking a 300 mile detour due to a bridge being out (friggen hurricane), it took me 4 days to get from orlando Florida to Los Angeles, California.
