I want a rough idea. It doesn't have to be specific, but I'm just incredibly curious.

  1. Mt. Everest is 29,029ft

    convert to meters...

    29,029 ft * ( 12 inches / 1 ft ) = 348,348 in

    348,348 in * ( 2.56 cm / 1 inch ) = 891,770.88 cm

    891,770.88 cm is 8,917.71 m

    gravity is 9.8 m/s

    8,917.71 m * ( 9.8m / 1s ) = 909.97 s

    909.97 s * ( 1 min / 60 s ) = 15.17 min

==> it takes about 15 mins...

  2. you would probably hit the side at some point, die, and roll the rest of the way ...so yeah

  3. Well considering the height (bout 29,029ft), if you were to fall from the summit, (and this is only a 7th graders guess) it would prolly take less than 5 min... i think, since an object free falling would eventually enter terminal velocity going at for 120 mph till you go splat...

    Hope it helped =D

  4. You can't "fall from the top of Mt. Everest" for any significant distance. I suppose you could roll quite a ways, though.

Perhaps you meant "How long would it take to fall from a height equal to the top of Mt. Everest?" That one is easy to answer. The height of Mt. Everest is about 7 miles above sea level. Terminal velocity for a falling human (no parachute, et cetera) is about 120 mph. So the fall would take about three and a half minutes.
