  1. by machine 5-10 minutes but by hand about 20-30. i think

  2. About 5 minutes per hem with a machine, or maybe by hand a bit under 10 minutes per hem.

When I shorten and hem my daughter's pants it takes about 10-15 minutes (includes the measuring and cutting).

I've also been sewing for 28 years.

  3. You would need a special sewing machine that does the hem stitich for a pair of suit trousers. That is what is used in by a tailor or in the dry cleaners. A regular sewing machine might have a blind hem stitch, but it doesn't give as a professional look. Most of the time is for measuring, cutting and pressing out the hem. I would say 45 minutes or less to complete.

  4. It takes me about half an hour per leg, counting the measuring and ironing. I always do it by hand.
