  1. It all depends on the specifics of the case, the type of agency, the nature of the courts, etc.  If it's a big city, then it would be very quickly.  If it's a more rural area, then it could be a bit slower.  However, if a cop needs an arrest warrant to arrest a violent abuser, then they can get one as soon as needed (there are judges on call).  


  2. If you're referring to a domestic dispute, officers responding would make an arrest immediately if they feel it is so warranted. Police may now make an arrest without a complaintant so convincing a spouse/partner to press charges is no longer an issue.

    If you're referring to a situation that has already occurred without police intervention they would have to believe that there is cause for an arrest before attempting to obtain a warrant. This could include interviewing all parties involved and could take several days.

  3. when my former boyfriend beat me up and they checked his felony record, they arrested and got 2 warrants right away (on a saturday). It depends on the situation though.
