Am planning on flying into Christchurch with my girlfriend to her mother's, we have full use of her mum's car. Just curious about time allowance!

  1. Kia ora,

I am a professional tour organiser, and I suggest at least 28 days to pick the best of both islands.

Some people try doing both islands in a week and see nothing; some may see a bit by spending a week in each island, but I insist on a minimum os two weeks per island.

It can be done very cheaply, especially  as you have full use of the car.

You could contact me, or ask the Automobile Association to nut out an itinerary for you - you will have to be a member to get them to do that, but the cost of membership will be money well spent.

I know you will enjoy yourselves.

    Ka kite,

  2. You've given no idea about exactly where you want to visit.  There are parts of both islands where you can't do 'round trip'.  www.aa.co.nz or www.wises.co.nz may help you with travel times, km/miles etc

In reply to Driver T - alot of countries have reciprocal rights if you're an AA member of the country you live in.
