When the prop tips are in the trans-sonic speed range Mach 1.05, the sound is really intense.  But most of the time the aircraft is cruising at a lower speed so the loudness of the engines and props is reduced.  Really important on a 14 hour mission.

TU-95 goes by the code name "Bear."  There are many variations of this plane.  We used to have our battle group overflown by one or more of them every time we went through the South China Sea back in the 70's and 80's.

The Russians used to have a detachment of them operating out of our old air base at Cam Ranh Bay.

They used to overfly the flight deck at about 1,000 to 1,500 feet.  One time we had a Company of Marines doing PT on the flight deck when we were overflown.  They dropped their shorts and mooned 'em.  As I recall they were pretty quiet.

The Bear (TU-95) can stay aloft for about 20 hours.  They carry a surface search radar code name "Big Buldge" which is very powerful and good at long distances.  During a war the job of the Bear would be to locate targets and feed the targeting data to strike aircraft such as Backfire and Badger.

Well they are going to sound like most old prop planes loud,, These old planes were put away in storage and I never expected these now hunk of flying junk to even be airworthy to fly. Putin dragged then out of mothballs and put these things back into service and i am just astonished, They have been buzzing our ships because putin is flexing his muscle but i am really afraid one will fall or crash on one of our ships that Putin is going to scream we shot him down
