How low can you negotiate a price down of a used car?

i found a used 2002 cabrio GLX for $11,500 (or best offer). my dad will only spend about $6,000 or more and i will probably only have $1,500 saved up for my car. am i S**t out of luck? do you think its possible to even negotiate this car down for waaay less?

  1. That's impossible to negotiate the price from 11.5K to 8k. In this case, either you look for other cheap used car or auction car


  2. i buy and sell cars alot i usually get ones with small body work or minor mechanical problems i would have to say that going down $4000 from $11500 to $7500 is a little to much  to make a profit i could never go down that much maybe $2000 at the most i think the only way he would come down is if he needs the money real bad or is in the middle of a divorce and don't want her to get it  lol  good luck

  4. I doubt anyone asking $11,500 for a car is going to accept $6000 or $7500. But you should always check out the price of any used car on Kelley Blue Book (www.kbb.com) or NADA Guides (www.nadaguides.com) before you start negotiating prices. That's the only way you'll know if the price you're offering is a fair price.
