  1. that is impossible to answer given just the details you have provided...but given that it is a 21mile marathon...that should sound like alot of calories, right? but then again, you will be walking.

to know for sure, get yourself a cardio/heart watch. they arent that expensive and they are close to being very accurate (depending on the brand and the quality of the watch) at measuring how many calories you will burn.

you also need to find out what your target heart should be, the longer you stay within your target heart rate (which is determined by your age and level of fitness and whatnot) the more calories you will burn.

look into the brand Polar for heart rate watches...as they will give you both, a constant readout of your heart rate and will also give you the amount of calories you are burning during whatever activity you are involved in!!

    good luck w/ your run!!!

  2. depends on how fast you walk it  (your pace) and wether your male or female, also your age

  3. if your 315 lb your not going 21 miles

  4. That sounds like a very bad idea. You need to change your life stye and exercise at least 5 times per week. After a week of a healthy change in your long-term diet, you want to work up to an hour of aerobic exercise for at least 5 days a week. (Look up aerobic exercise for details.) To be effective, you also want to include a life style change when it comes to your eating habits. Make sure to get at least 8-9 hours of sound/good sleep. (If your house mates tell you that you snore, you may want to be tested for sleep apnea which is a very common problem for people who have ravenous appetites.)

For me, it was much easier to go on an extreme diet that eliminates bad foods and allows you to eat as often as you want as long as you don't stuff yourself. The diet is based on the writings of cardiologist Dr. Dean Ornish. I was more severe and eliminated 'corporate foods' including the following:

    - Soda pop (both diet and sugar laden) and carbonated drinks

    - Caffine and coffee (drink water instead, do not drink decaf)

    - Sugar and refined carbs (no white bread or white rice)

    - Sugar Substitutes (some cause serious problems)

    - Salt

-All Oils and Fats (both the good and the bad oils are replaced with fish oil capsule)

    - Cheese and Milk

    - Meat and Fish

    - Egg yoke (Egg whites are pure protein and are good. Egg Beaters are OK)

    - Alcohol (complete abstinence is best)

You must read labels carefully. Often low fat food products add sugar to improve the taste. Low sugar products may add fats. High levels of salt is very common in canned and frozen foods. It's sometimes easier just to eliminate the corporate foods all together. This leaves fresh fruits and vegitables and whole grains and beans. I was sick the first couple of days on this diet until my body adjusted to the healthy food and lack of caffine. Now, I get sick if I try to eat any fried foods and my blood pressure and other blood tests are well within a normal range. This diet and exercise program can prevent high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabeties, and cancers.

It's much easier to make a complete life style changes and live it long term. Short term, quick fixes will never be sustained. I've done it not because I want to live longer. I've done it because I feel so much better and have more energy. The effects are within a few days and well worth the effort. You will feel new vigor and can begin active aerobic exercise within a week. Get at least 8-9 hours of deep sleep. Your health will improve within a week. The payoff is clear and worth the change.
