  1. it depends on the liquid.

The ounces on a can of soda or other beverage are FLUID ounces - meaning they're a measure of volume, not mass or weight.

A very dense liquid wouldn't require as many fluid ounces to equal a pound of weight - but a very thin liquid would require more.

The standard is water - one fluid ounce of water weighs one ounce on a scale.  A pound is 16 ounces of weight, so 16 fluid ounces of water would weigh one pound.  For other liquids, it depends whether or not they are denser than water, and the amount of ounces to weigh one pound would vary accordingly.

1 and 1/3 12 oz. cans of water would weigh one pound. (plus the weight of the cans themselves...)

  2. 2/3's of a 24 ounce can

    1 1/2 12 oz cans

  3. One 24oz. can 1/2 filled, or 1/2 empty. <}:-})

Pesimistic or optimistic. it all the same.
