  1. The actual answer is 3^4. for example, with 2 different numbers for 2 different digits, you can have AB, BB, BA, AA, which is equal to 2^2. Also, if you have 3 possible digits, then now you'll have AAA, ABA, AAB, ABB, BBA, BAB, BBB, ABB, which is equal to 2^3=8 You can find the amount of different numbers you can have by this formula (The amount of different numbers possible)^(The amount of digits within the number).


  2. You cant make a 4 digit number with only 3 numbers...

    Unless you're saying that zero is also included
