  1. Not enough.

  2. Another excellent point.  But keep in mind, not ALL what WE have to PC "deem" as African Americans have any relations to Africa, and they themselves resent it.

I read (or watched) on the news the other day that we're getting way too PC.

Just ask the Jamaicans, the Bahamians, the Haitians, etc. how THEY feel about being called "African American".

They'll tell you, and it's quite enlightening.  They don't like it at all.

  3. I am not a dark skinned individual but I have been to quite a few countries in Africa and what I found that really surprised me was how Muslim the country is.  True Muslims.  The kind that respect others and invite all to their dinner table and treat people  the way they want to be treated.  I thought they were wonderful .  Unfortunately then there are the extremists but in the many times there I never ran across the extremist situation.

  4. I have never been to Africa.  I MIGHT want to go and visit, but I definitely don't want to live there.

As far back as my grandmother's mother, all have lived in New Orleans, but I  don't think anyone of them have been to Africa either.

I do know some African people who have been living here for a few years and I was told they DO NOT like to be called African Americans.

  5. Coming from a white man. I would say not alot of people even in general get to travel that far to see their heritage. I am one of the lucky ones that has traveled to england many times to enjoy what my ancestors left. But, the fact is? It is alot of trouble and takes alot of money to travel out of the usa. Plus, on an economic stance. African americans are on the bottom of the totem pole as far as having financial means to travel like this.

  6. I dunno.  We have a hard enough time figuring out if Barack counts.  Of course he must.... or...... erm.....

  7. I would guess not too many, but then again their ancestors did not ask to leave Africa in the first place. If Africans had been left peacefully where they were, instead of being kidnapped by vile white people and forced into slavery in the most horrifically cruel conditions, America wouldn't have a lot of the problems it has today.

  8. I read an article about Whoopi Goldberg. Through genetic testing they found the area in Africa where her ancestors are from. They invited her to go and see the area in Africa, but she turned them down because she is "too busy." Nice to talk the talk, but not walk the walk Whoopi.

  9. I have no idea. Perhaps there's been a survey of blacks that have visited Africa.

This has nothing to do with your question but for the gentleman above:

BTW, the native Africans were not "kidnapped by vile white". History has proven they were kidnapped by their own vile black people (warring tribes) and forced into slavery. It was just heinous of those who kept them in slavery.

Slavery is always wrong, and that includes high taxes, heavy debts and big government. That is also slavery (or as I call it serfdom).

I apologize for getting off subject.

    Best wishes.
