How many American expatriates move to the Dominican Republic and love it so much they never return to the U.S.

Here in Puerto Plata there are a lot of Americans living and working.

There's a lot american living in here. but there more europeans living in here. I wonder why?

Most Americans I know return to the U. S. after a few short years however I have known many Canadians and Germans who have moved there permanently, by that I mean they have lived there  more than twenty years.
