  1. I did and I was very disappointed. If my ancestors came from there, no wonder they left.  I'm jesting of course, lovely country.  Although I will never understand why people who are on the surface proud of their country, decidedly proud that they are not Americans, yet in reality they loathe their country, its history and institutions so much that they've dismantled them over the last 40 years.  I could understand if you were Germans and had something to be ashamed of.  Also, your country is far too expensive, it's like the mother of all tourist traps. One final thing, you have young people who think they're rather tough.  Coming from an urban area in the US, I found their sentiments to be adorably cute.  If you ever decide to finally do something about crime in Britain, just send your hooligans to Detroit, LA, Chicago, etc, they wouldn't last 10 minutes.

  2. I'm not sure, but I think you'll find that every American has British extraction, given that they all descend from the people who went there on the Mayflower

  3. I lived in England for 2 years while I was at University... and I found the experience very interesting and worth while.

  4. Thank you for referring to our country as the UK, so many Americans refer to it as England, which is only one part of our island.  As to Boomer Wisdom's answer that he indeed liked his stay in 'England' and that we speak English (sort of). May I remind him that USA also speaks English (sort of). Who speaks correctly, who spells correctly - who cares!  I have always thought of USA and Britain as cousins, albeit long-distance.

  5. I have. I had a blast. I loved the museums, ancient sites,  and became an expert in ales and pub food. I only visited London, York, and Bath, but plan to go back as soon as I win the lottery or the dollar is resurrected. The UK is wonderful vacation territory once you get used to the "1984" Big Brother cameras everywhere, and the people are friendly, polite, and speak English (well, kinda, sortof).
