  1. About 192 million - 209 million, about 35-38% of Latin America's total population, with a significant number in Brazil where there are up to 102 million.

Other significatn numbers are: Argentina (39 million); Mexico (9.8 million); Colombia (8.9 million); Cuba (7.3 million); Venezuela (5.2 million); Chile (4.9 million); Peru (4.3 million); Uruguay (3 million); Bolivia (1.4 million); Nicaragua (1 million)

  2. Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil had large numbers of European immigrants who came over 50-150 years ago.  Argentina and Uruguay are mainly white, Brazil is about half. In Chile I think they are 1/4 or 1/3.  In many other countries they are mainly descended from the earlier Spanish settlers and make up 10-15% of the people or less, but may make up most of the upper middle class and elite.

Costa Rica is supposed to be mainly white although most of them have at least a little Indian blood.  Cuba and Puerto Rico have a lot of European as well as African blood.

In many Latin American countries, such as Mexico, most of Central america, Colombia, etc., most of the population consists of "mestizos" or "ladinos" who are part white, part Indian.  In Brazil,  there are lots of mulattos, part white and part black.

Incidentally, the official figures are going to be a bit imprecise.  I recall that Nicaragua is supposedly 17% white, most of the rest mestizo, while Honduras is supposed to be 1% white, most of the rest mestizo.  When I actually visited the two countries, I noticed more white-looking people in Honduras (about 25%).  Probably in Nicaragua they count you if you look white or think you're white, whereas in Honduras you're a mestizo if you're even a little bit Indian.
