Its really hard to say the french community in the United States is like a silent partner in the creation of the modern day United States.  If youre looking for a well defined French-American community your best bet would be to look toward the larger cities and of course the state of Louisiana has a well established community.

That's a good question that's hard to answer.

From 1996 to 2005, about 32,000 French citizens got US green cards.  During that same period, an average of 1.2 million entered the US as tourists or temporary workers every year; some percentage of those no doubt found reason to stay, and adjusted status.  Here is the world of immigration statistics:  have fun with it;it's pretty addictive.
