How many Ice-Ages have occurred in the history of the world. Including major and non-major?

I know there has been 4 major Ice-Ages, but what about Minor included?

  1. Yes - interesting these last million and a half years with the Ice Ages.  I don' t think anybody knows for sure what you ask.  

    The problem is that each Ice Age tends to s***w up the evidence for the one before.  So I think geologists sort of figure there were the big 4 - but as for minor ones, there were probably hundreds - hope we're not going into one right now.


  2. In the past one million years, Major Ice Ages have been occurring about every 100,000 years and minor ice ages called " little ice ages " could have a 20,000 to 40,000 year cycle.

  3. I wish I could tell you...but I don't know.

    I do know that in Pennsylvania, at Hickory Run State Park there is a HUGE boulder field that is amazing to see.

    They show you how it was formed from the ice age and other processes. If you are ever around, CHECK IT OUT!
