    "All the male Levites a month old or more numbered 23,000. They were not counted along with the other Israelites because they received no inheritance among them. "

    The rest were not numbered and can only be estimated from the above numbers.

    Those 600,000 died in the desert, while more children were born, so I'd have to say about the original 2-3 million.
