How many MP3 songs will fit on a CD-R?

I'm using iTunes to make a playlist for an outdoor party. The CD player we will use plays MP3s as well as regular CDs. I'm taking songs here & there off all my CDs for one big playlist instead of having to switch CDs all the time at the party. I've no idea how many songs will fit onto a single disc. The iTunes help section says 150 songs/12 hours. Is this about right? Do I keep adding songs until I get close to 700 MB? I understand it's a data disc & goes by MB, not minutes, as a regular audio CD would. So far it says 34 songs, 2 hours, 160 MB so I have a ways to go.

  1. if u burn an audio disc to have .mp3 files on it - it goes by the disc size (in most cases 700MB) like you said. So depending on the bit rate and size of the song you should get a pretty good ammount of songs on there - the program u use to burn the cd should tell u when to start being careful when adding more information to the data disc (in this case .mp3 song files) so you dont fill it up too much. its always a good idea to not try to fit every lil bit in so just leave a few megs or 2 left to finalize the cd and have fun
