In the US, as of 2008, McDonalds has 11,772 franchises and another 6,906 company owned restaurants.  

Some of these McDonalds are in airports or malls, so we should assume those don't have drive-thru's.  I would thus estimate that 75% of McDonalds do have drive-thru windows.  So, I would estimate that 14,008 of the 18,678 McDonalds restaurants in the USA have drivethru windows.

Note:  To the person that said 31,000.  That is worldwide, not USA as the questioner asked - and does not take into account McD's without drive-thru windows
