My question: Production of Phosphoric acid by wet process technology.

Main Raw materials: Sulfuric acid, Phosphate rock (calcium phosphate) and water gives Phosphoric acid and gypsum.

3H2SO4 Ca3(PO4)2 6H2O -> 2H3PO4 3 CaSO4.2H2O

We need the theoretical yield for Phosphoric acid.

how much quantity for raw materials required for produce 1 metric tone of phosphoric acid ??????????????????

  1. 3H2SO4 & Ca3(PO4)2 & 6H2O -> 2H3PO4 &  3 CaSO4.2H2O

    --------------------------------------...

    find the mass in grams, of what was in the reaction:

    3 H2SO4   ..... (3moles) (98.078 g/mol) = 294.234 grams

    Ca3(PO4)2 ,,,,  (1mole) (310.18 g/mol) = 310.18 grams

    2 H3PO4   ....  ( 2 moles ) (98.0 g/mol) = 196 grams

    --------------------------------------...

    that ratio of grams reacts, just as would that ratio of tons:

    3 H2SO4   ..... 294.234 tons

    Ca3(PO4)2 ,,,, 310.18 tons

    2 H3PO4   ....  196 tons

    --------------------------------------...

    How many Tons of H2SO4 is required to produce 1 Ton of H3PO4:

    1 Ton of H3PO4 @  294.234 tons H2SO4/ 196 tons H3PO4 = 1.50

    your answer is 1.50 tons of H2SO4 is required

    How many Tons of Ca2(PO4)2 is required to produce 1 Ton of H3PO4:

    1 Ton of H3PO4 @  310.18 tons Ca2(PO4)2 / 196 tons H3PO4 = 1.58

    your answer is 1.58 tons of Ca2(PO4)2  is required

    I am not rounding off for sig figs, i don't think they wanted it to be the  1 sig fig problem that "1 ton" made it
