  1. The men and women that died while not in direct hand to hand combat are not included in the totals, nor are they given medals for their heroism. They have actually taken a purple heart from a young man that was wounded in the Iraq war. The reason given was he was in a convoy and was not on the front lines, therefore he did not deserve his purple heart. It's truly disgusting, what our government will do to cover up the REAL numbers. We will never know the actual count. In all previous wars the names of the fallen were published in the papers, everyday. The only time I've ever heard of anyone dying in Iraq or Afghanistan, is when it's a local boy/girl, or someone in the vicinity.

I haven't heard of anyone being counted if suicide was committed. Sad really that so many have to live or die because the government chooses to ignore what the ravages of PTSD is doing to our troops. Too many extensions of duty takes its horrible toll.

  2. they say during the war i think the count is up to or slightly over 4100

  3. All deaths in Iraq are made public, both combat-related and non-combat. This includes public notification of those who die later from wounds or injuries after being medically evacuated from the theater. The same holds true for those involved in Operation Enduring Freedom, which covers Afghanistan and the surrounding area. The link below is the vehicle by which that information is made public. Although the paper you cited has a really nice weather page, you might want to check the source I listed below as well. Because my source is able to distinguish between those who committed suicide secondary to their presence in a combat theater versus those who committed suicide, but whose only claim to fame was entering the service with a pre-existing mental health problem. You also might want to check the suicide rate among civilian males age 18-26 as well. I do believe you will find it quite a bit higher.

  4. To date 4,114 US service members have died in Iraq and another 555 have died in Afghanistan.  This includes combat deaths and accidents and yes suicides.

I'm not sure what your question is here - if you have ever deployed and fought in country you can come back with some issues - at least there are some mechanisms in place to help us deal with them. It is much better than in any previous wars fought by this country.

  5. At this time close to 4500.  That includes those that have died of wounds suffered in country.  Many die after in either

Germany or stateside from complications directly attributed to Iraq.

Those numbers do NOT include the suicides.

  6. 4126

  7. in my war (vietnam), three times as many took their own lives, after, as had died in combat.  three times!  probably a lot higher by now, i've lost track.  these numbers are associated specifically with combat veterans. the trauma and horrors of war do not soon fade.

  8. Way to many, You have seen some numbers above they may be right who knows .George W never had a plan to win the war and it IS a war

`He has come on TV and told the American people that the war will not win on his watch

And my feelings are when we get out of there, And i do hope its soon,

Because we have lost to many of our young

And all they will do any is go back to fighting each other like they have done for a very long time

  9. h**l, at least we have a number.  How many iraqis have been killed by the crazy portion of their religion is what I would love to know.

  10. last time I heard it was over 4,000 and counting
