  1. Maybe he's an idiot. If he's still in the house he's an idiot. You, on the other hand, are clearly an idiot.

Mariner31.... common sense answer, sir. Well said.

  2. people do that because they think because the hurricane is not that strong anymore they can just go outside and show off thinking they're the best. but i don't agree with this. i remember a couple of years back my neighbor got out of his house and started being ''THE BEST'' but he got thrown to the ground and rolled over like 4 times

  3. The point of "idiocy" is the individual's spelling... 'where" should have been "we're" or "we are".

To some of the others who've responded... at NO POINT in this question does it state or suggest that the individual did NOT evacuate.

I had to ride out 4 hurricanes (Pensacola and Dam Neck) during my Navy career... I've ridden out 3 typhoons at our home in the Philippines... and evacuated for one more.

The TRUE idiocy is a city build below sea-level in a river-delta...

I'm GLAD they mandated evacuations EARLY this time.

  4. and king cnut commanded the tide not to come in

  5. It doesn't mean that we think we're bigger that the storm.  It just means  that person has chosen not to cower in fear, as would evidently be your coping mechanism.

  6. i doubt very seriously that person thinks they can take on the storm, it is simply a statement saying he has done what he can to prepare and is ready for the storm when it arrives.

It was no American idiot that wrote it, it was a person that is ready or at least they think they are. your a bigger idiot for not being able to see it as it is, if any one's a idiot.

  7. American have proved time and time again that we can be put down but we can not ever be put out. We do not run for cover when faced with adversity, we meet it head on and fight our battles with bravery and valor. To date we are undefeated and by the powers that be, hopefully, will remain that way. We are a defiant, proud people who will always stand up to be counted when the chips are down. We are saying, the wind may blow, the rain may engulf us, our homes may be blown away, but, we will still be here to rebuild, for we are American, and will always be true to our heritage, strong, brave and steadfast.

    Live with it!

  8. I see this as self motivation.

  9. So you hope this person dies because he wrote he was ready on some boards on his house. This seems a little harsh considering all he was doing was securing his home for the storm and that was all he could do was board up. Have you ever been through a hurricane? Do you know what it is like? You can loose everything including your life and the people you know.

  10. Id say it was just that one idiot who would write that because most of them aren't ready and wouldn't write something so stupid

  11. It sounds like an example of American grit and defiance of adversity. The kind of "can do" attitude that converted thirteen disorganized colonies into the greatest country in the world.

No, we are not bigger than the storm. But Americans will do what they can to protect and defend their property, and rebuild it when the storm is over. That's what makes us American, and not sniveling, defeatist wimps like you.

  12. Only an idiot would do that. A truer idiot would not board up the windows and just stand out side screaming at the storm as it passes over lol.

  13. to each his own..

i'm not going to judge the guy. i don't know him.

  14. Says it all really!

  15. Some people are idiots. Regardless of their ethnic race or where they live. I dont know where you live but I can promise you if Gustav was hitting there that there would be some guy doing that also.

  16. Millions of Americans along the coast of the Gulf have evacuated.  Its the normal thing to board up windows when a hurricane is imminent.  Some people like to write comments on these boards because it gives them some sense of input into a situation over which nobody has any control.  Its just a way of dealing with it mentally.  None of these millions of people know if they will have a home to come back to.

  17. I think that's wrong. His family and whoever else could get seriously hurt. They sould have evacuated, but they might have not been able to. Who knows.

  18. You don't know... Maybe he was writing it to be ironic. Or maybe it's just plain blind faith. What's it to you, and what difference does it make to you if he's American?

As an American, I can tell you that we get really tired of taking c**p on the chin from every bigot like you who seems to think we're all the same, a bunch of rednecks from the south. But the reality is that our Country is massive and has a multitude of cultures, taste, and arts greater then any country in the world. From our collection of great art in Chicago's Art Institute, to New York's Metropolitan museum of art, to nearly the entire works of Salvidor Dali in St Petersburg. We also generate some of the greatest films in the world that despite Hollywood is still world renowned. Our music is equally broad in range and our schools are well known and sought after.  I can say this from first hand experience to, as I have been to several other countries. And while each may be unique in it's own way, none of them are nearly as broad as us.

I really hope that you have the good fortune to one day visit our country and see what it's really like.
