How many amps will 14/2 wire safely carry?

Another way to ask the same question is what's the largest breaker I can safely use in a circuit that uses 14/2 wire? Probably 15 amps but I just want to make sure... Thanx!

  1. Follow the National Electric Code - it states that # 14 AWG wire can carry up to and be fused for 15 amps.


  2. 15 AMPS is the correct answer. If you have 14/2 wire use a 15 AMP breaker.
