I remember reading about Mexicans sitting "literally trackside" at the 1st Mexican GP drinking beer (love it!!)...Plus, we've just had beavers and groundhogs at Canada...

  1. this wasnt in f1 but a friend of mine was killed by a deer during a hillclimb in his open wheel when he came around a corner and the deer ran out in front of him.

    lol

  3. There was the unfortunate dog who got a little too close to the action in Mexico in 1968: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind...

And the 1985 beaver who survived and the 2007 one who didn't in Canada - could be something to do with the respective merits of the drivers involved in those incidents as to why one survived and the other didn't (Lauda & Davidson).

Stefan Johansson took out a deer at 160mph in Austria in 1987. That was messy, and the car was written off. He was lucky to survive unhurt, but he managed to start the next day.

I also remember reading about one driver getting hit in the face by a bird (in the open-face helmet era)...trying to find out who it was. Clark or Graham Hill I think.

    EDIT

    lol.

Along the same lines, Stirling Moss' wife poked her finger in his eye one GP weekend and he had to qualify with an eyepatch...

  4. haha, your question made me laugh!

I know that dogs routinely get onto the tracks in Brasil (something Bernie has been bollocking them for for years) and Groundhogs are run over/clipped in Canada. Sad but true,  I always giggle at the start of Canada GP when all the birds c**p themselves (not literally. . .) and disperse when the engines roar, tee hee!

  5. I remember a coupe of years ago ( in world rally championship) Petter Sholbergs Subaru hit a kangaroo!

On my driving test a sparrow flew on to the windscreen of the car! ( Not a lot to do with F1 but hey, good to have you back)!

Edit, Christiano Da Matta hit a deer in indy car testing 2 years ago and was in hospital for quite some time
