How many bags can i take when flying with delta from the uk to the usa?

i went on the website and it says 2 bags if flying outside the us. but what if your flying to the us from the uk? (california)i dont get it! lol

I would think if you are on a one way trip you can take 2 bags but it would be a good idea to email or telephone the airline in order to avoid excess baggage charges.
