Tough one. There are about 60,000 pubs in the UK, but obviously not all of them have beer gardens. A search on www.beerintheevening.com reveals over 3200 pubs with outside seating out of 27,000 indexed pubs - about 12%, so if that's an accurate figure you're looking at nearly 7,500 beer gardens. Hope that helps.
