Is it better to do more reps with a lower weight or fewer reps with a bigger weight?

200 reps with 3 kg or 50 with 10 kg?

  1. 20 reps would be for cardio, stamina, toning long lean muscles.

12-8 reps would be for strength, muscle building, getting big bulky mass.

  2. if you are building power, do less with heavier weight...as this pushes ur muscle to its limits

if you are building endurance, do more with less weight...more effective if you increase the weight gradually

  3. I'd say lower/average weight with more reps because you can also increase your stamina.

  4. i developed nice size to my arms 19-20 inches from 16 1/2 by doing just 5 min of bicep work 2-3x per week. need a timer or stopwatch.

pick an exercise..standing curls with ez curl bar...always use an ez curl bar...less stress on joints...or preacher curls. load the bar with moderate weight...and pump away. see how many reps you can do in 5 min...you might stop and rest 3-5 times during this period though.

just take a few seconds...shake your arms and pump again...keep going til the timer rings. always keep a record of your workout...change the weight used about every 2 weeks or so.

you can also apply this workout to other parts of the body..

    good luck

  5. Usually it really depends on what your trying to accomplish, more reps with less weight is for building endurance in the muscle, while less reps more weight is for building strength and size. However for the amount of weight your using, 50 reps with the 10 kg would be best. 200 reps with 3kg won't really do much of anything.
