How many birds & lotus?

Question

In a pond there was lots of lotus.

A set of birds passing through sat one each on one lotus and a bird was left with no flower to sit.

Then the bird decided to sit two on one lotus.

This time one lotus was free from birds.

How many birds & lotus?

uh, I don't really get the question...

hmmm...I was thinking about 4 birds and 3 lotus...three birds occupied the 3 lotus. . . when the other one decided to sit next to a bird who's already sitting at the lotus, both of them fell and the lotus floated again... voila! there's a vacant lotus ! hahahaha!
