  1. so you have a book phobia now? just leave your child alone. he will do well without you parents fretting the c**p out of your child.

  2. In all seriousness, the average student will read as FEW as they can get by with!

  3. well my high school makes us keep reading records and the books that i had to read for history and language in just two yrs was over 40. freshman yr i had to do about 15 just for language and history and sophomore yr they changed things so everyone has to read 25 a school yr plus summer reading and class requirements, so next yr im looking at about 36 just for my junior yr.

  4. Not many, I think my grand-daughter maybe reads 2 or 3 books a year, she is now in the 10th.They honestly don't push reading like they used, too.

  5. These days probably none.

  6. as many as the student wants to read whether it be five hundred or a big fat zero.

it doesn't matter what the school assigns what-so-ever.

  7. You need to be more specific with the question.  Do you mean everything or just novels/etc that are literature?

  8. I don't know the direct answer, but this might give a better picture on the relationship of the amount of students reading and their success. The data below is from 1988....not sure what the numbers look like today.

    Achievement Percentile: 90th / 50th / 10th

    Min/Day Reading:............40.4 / 12.9 / 1.6

    Words Read /Year: 2,357,000 / 601,000 / 51,000

***Every 8 days, a child in the top 10% will read as much as a child in the bottom 10% will read in a year.

  9. maybe 3 for each grade up until 6th grade

    4 until 8th

    5 until 12

its a guess since from 3-6th grade your teacher would make u read one each semester for projects and stuff. to 8th grade you have assigned summer reading and book reports. until 12th grade you have more summer reading and more projects to do... multiply that by like 3 if they actually like to read
