I'm wondering if cebuana lhuillier is really the no.1 pawnshop in the country. tambunting is operating and well-known since 1906. while cebuana is operating for just 20 years only.

I believe Cebuana Lhuillier is the no. 1 pawnshop in the country. Being number does not have anything to do with the length of time in the business--it's about the services it offers and customer satisfaction.

Not many people know that Cebuana is a one-stop-shop. Aside from its core business which is pawning, it also has Pera Padala--a money remittance service for both local and international customers. It also offers P25 peso insurance, yes P25. This is an accident and fire insurance for four months. Other value added services are bills payment, E-load, and a whole lot more.

Claiming to be the no. 1 pawnshop needs refuting however, if they say they are, then they are.  They have so many branches one cannot keep track anymore.  Sometimes in one municipality they have like 3 or 5 branches or outlets.  It does not mean that when one pawnshop has been around for, say, a hundred years it is no. 1.  It depends on how profitable their business is that they were able to expand that soon.  And look how they don't scrimp on advertisement. Not only do you see them in newspapers, they are also viewed in the telly.  And it was like 10 or 13 years ago that Cebuana Lhuillier sponsored a basketball team (Cebu Gems) that played in the MBA (Metropolitan Basketball Association) that included teams from different provinces or cities.

You know, naming the best pawnshop is not about how many branches it has. What matters is the service of the pawnshop. And the interest rates.

there are a lot of pawnshops for cebuana lhuillier in  cebu you can find it mostly in every corner bec this is the way Michel Lhuillier will payback the poor people(since they are the ones that are pawning), give them jobs. By the number of branches maybe they have the largest number since with more branches it will generate more jobs not to consider the income too. and to answer your question I think they are number one since they have more branches so it means they can reach more people so a lot of people would prefer them since they are just 'round the corner( dont know bout interest and other stuff though) Now, the Kwarta Padala is the bread and butter for the pawnshop, millions of income per day.  BTW he will open some sort of a safari style zoo in carmen ,cebu maybe this year.
