I usually work 6 to 7 hours with one 15 minuet break. It seems like to me we should have a long break or two breaks. What is the labor laws for how many breaks your allowed to have?

P.S. I live in CT.

  1. since 2001 an employer does not legally have to give you a break even if you work 10 hour shifts they don't have to give you a meal break or any 15 minute breaks most still do of course because they want to keep their employees. go to your states  fair wage and labor website and check it out if you don't believe me

  2. in nyc if u work for 7 hrs to 8 1/2  thats a lucnh and 2 breaks under`7 hrs 1 break or 2 depends where u wrok

  3. A few states require breaks, but CT does not. In CT you have a right to a 30 minute meal period after 7-1/2 hours of work, but you don't work that long.  See http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/wgwkstnd/fa...

    Federal law doesn't require breaks.

  4. Most  states  require  employers  to  post  the state's  labor  laws  poster  in  the  employee  break  room .

    Did  you  check  there  ?

Or   call  your  state  labor  board  for  real  answers  .

  5. Federal law does not require lunch or coffee breaks. Meal periods are not compensable work time. With that said - companies would have a hard time keeping workers from quiting without offering them paid breaks. When I was younger I had a job where we take a 10 minute break every 2 hours (unless it was real busy).
