I looking at going on a diet but i am a really fussy eater and i don't have much time to cook. I was thinking of having a chicken or ham sandwich for lunch and steamed chicken with veg for dinner. I want to keep track of how many calories i eat but i'm not sure. I only eat plain food and the only real meat i eat that don't have lots of calories is chicken. I cant find any websites that will help as all the weight loss websites have really complicated recipe's with food i really don't like.

  1. Like your other answerer said, some of it depends on portion size.  It also depends on what you prepare your food with.  Also, with chicken, the white meat has the least calories as the dark meat has more fat (you should also take the skin off as well).  Different vegetables have different caloric contents.  This isn't a black-and-white question that can be answered.  You will need to do some research yourself, depending on what you will be cooking, how much, and how you will be cooking it.    Sorry, but no one will really be able to answer your question.

  2. depends a lot on portion size

  3. I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but take it from someone who knows-- I lost more weight "being healthy" than I did "counting calories". Don't even bother counting calories in chicken and steamed veggies-- there are hardly any and it's sooo healthy. If you're going to diet, take my advice and don't count calories. You'll feel like you're robbing yourself of things you want and besides, it's nearly impossible to measure calorie in restaurant foods. Just think "healthy". What kinds of food are healthy? Any grilled meat, steamed and roasted veggies, foods high in fiber and protein and low in trans and saturated fat. My husband and I like grilled chicken (which you can season a million and one ways), salads (mandarin oranges, Crasins, feta cheese, dry roasted almonds, etc. Not boring salads...), cous cous, pasta with fresh, homemade sauces, etc. I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but take it from someone who knows-- I lost more weight "being healthy" than I did "counting calories".

  4. depends

  5. For the past 3 days my sister and I have also been keeping track of our calorie intake.  Sometimes we would measure out everything and then add up the numbers on the boxes, but we found that this is very tedious, especially if you are eating produce or unpackaged food.  We found a website called "Calorieking.com" which lists the nutritional values of almost anything!  Whats great about it is that they list prepared foods at popular restaurants as well as common produce.  You choose the portion size and they calculate the nutritional facts.
