Question:

How many calories do I need to be able to run 7 miles?

I am 14 year old and weigh about 102 pounds and I am going to go on a 7 mile endurance run this afternoon and I need to know how many calories I need to be able to maintain a good pace.

I will probably start my run about 4 p.m. so I need suggestions for breakfast and lunch.

  1. Hello,

    Hydration is very important.  Drink plenty of water during the day.  As for food, eat what you normally eat.  try to avoid dairy and meats, as they'll sit in your stomach longer.  I like bananas & fruit as pre-run foods.  As for the calories burned, you'll burn approx. 700 calories or 0.2 pounds of body fat.  Hope that helps.  See the link below for some more guidance.  Have a good run!

  2. eat a lot of iron and drink water throughout your day. i run ALOT and if you need to stop then walk for a little then go back to running. remember dont start out fast sprint at the end and youll do fine.
