How many calories do I need to take in a day to keep from "starvation mode"?

What is the minimum nutrient intake for a 5'7'' 180 lbs 23 year old female? I am doing a lot of lifestyle changes at the moment and I am trying to do it "right". I mean, I am exercising, keeping a food log, and charting my progress. I want to make sure that I stay healthy at the same time, I want to restrict my diet to loose weight, but do not want to become unhealthy while trying to achieve my goal.

    and eat less then 1,000 calories a day

    and exercise everyday

    i recomend turbo jam

    if u dont want to buy it then just go

    on youtube and type in tubo jam


  3. No less than 1200. If you go below 1200, you will go into starvation mode, and your metabolism will not burn calories as efficiently.

  4. They always say to eat at least 1,000 calories. Try to only eat when you are hungry, and small meals at a time. You can't and won't go wrong. kudos to you.. I'm trying the same! Email me if you want a buddy :)

    However if you are worried about weight control, get most of your calories from proteins and fibrous carbohydrates (green vegetables like celery)

    If I were you I wouldn't dip under 1600-2000.

Well after about 3 hrs of no food your stomach and body think its being starved, so eat small meals every 2-3 hrs.  Total intake for the whole day should be 500 below what you used to eat, so don't go drastic on your body from like 3000 to 1000, or you'll probably quit after a few weeks.  But aim for 1500 a day

Don't try to lose weight too fast.  A lot of people lower there calories way to low and it is very unhealthy.  There is no exact amount of calories that would be considered unhealthy because everyone is different.  Shoot for around 2 pounds a week of weight loss.  If your losing much more than that then chances are you are not eating enough calories.  Good luck!
