On TV and stuff women get all sweaty and out of breath during labor, so I assuming some calories are burned. Anyone know how many?

  1. There is no one answer. Labor varies significantly birth to birth, in intensity and in duration. Plus, like anything else, calories burned would depend upon weight.

I would liken the effort put out to that of vigorous sprinting, plus pain of course.

  2. I think calorie counting would be the last thing on your mind while having a baby.

Would all depend on how long it lasted. Some people go 2 hours, other 2 days

  3. I would assume it depends on a number of factors including but not limited too, the duration of the labor, the mother's weight and fitness level etc.
