I am also 220. I'm hoping to loose 25-30 lbs in 2 months. What should I be consuming calorie wise to loose weight safely? I already know what is healthy to eat and that I need to exercise. How many calories should I eat or where can I go to find out?

  1. Check your BMI here.

Check out how many calories you need to eat here.

Break up however many calories you need in a day (to lose weight) into 6 small meals around 200-300 calories each. Make sure they are spaced apart by 3-4 hours. (this keeps your metabolism up and helps you lose weight faster). DONT GO UNDER 1,200 CALORIES A DAY NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. Thats very unhealthy.

Only drink water and Crystal Light Energy. ; )

    Good Luck!

Try implementing weightlifting every other day as well as cardio at least 5 times a week in 30 min - 60 min. session per day!

  2. I'd say between 1200-1500 calories per day just don't drop below 1200 or your body will go into starvation mode.  You're probably already aware but you need to drink tons of water.  It helps so much in taking off weight faster.  Not just the standard 8 cups I'm talking about always having a water bottle in your hand!  best of luck :)

  4. that is too much weight loss for such a short time.

Losing weight and maintaining the weight loss is a lifestyle change... not a couple of months of dramatic dieting/exercise.

I lost 45 pounds in almost a bit over a year. That is about a pound a week. Healthy weight loss should add up to about a pound a week. Think slow and steady, and you will reach your goals.

You will fail if you make your weight loss program too extreme. You may make your short term goals... but the weight will come back.

But, enough preaching... to successfully lose weight, it doesn't matter how many calories you eat... just as long the amount you consume adds up to less than you burn.

Your base caloric needs adds up to about 1850 for your height/weight/age. This is a base number... calories consumed during exercise would be on top of that.

so...if you consume 1650 calories a day, and burn an extra 200 through some form of exercise, then you will be be effectively removing 400 calories from your daily intake. Check out some online calorie calculators for various exercises.
