  1. Special k (by itself)- 140

    Tuna- 60

    apple-80

    strawberries-10, if that

    grand total: 290

  2. You need to eat more, and more often. The things you have eaten are all good choices.... kudos for that. But you need more, just how much depends on your height and other factors, too. Refer to a BMR calculator; you can find them on the web for free. You may also want to invest in a book on calories. You can just look up a food, and it will tell you the nutritional value. I have "The Complete Book Of Food Counts" by Corinne Netzer. It has a lot of information, but it's sometimes hard to look things up because it focuses too much on name brands. For example, if I look up grapes, it gives me answers for Dole, Del Monte, Chiquita, canned grapes and so on.

Another choice is trying a program like Vitality For Life or Strip That Fat that have calculators that do all sorts of stuff like help you plan your menu complete with nutritional info. Check out Vitalityforlife.com or http://www.squidoo.com/thesecretoffastwe...

As for what to have for dinner... well you need 2 servings of vegetables, 4 more servings of whole grains, 2 servings of milk, cheese or yogurt, and 8 cups of water. My menu suggestion for you:

2 cups of whole grain pasta with chunky (homemade) marinara, steamed broccoli and carrots mixed right in to make it primavera style. 1 cup of fresh baby spinach and romaine salad with shredded carrots and grated parmesean cheese and italian salad spritzer. 1 10oz glass of milk, and a slice of multi grain baguette.

    Sounds yummy? Now I'm hungry!

  3. Go to http://www.calorieking.com There you can search for foods and it'll tell you the nutritional content of foods

  4. There is an awesome little book (about 8 dollars) from calorie king that lists just about every food you can imagine and it's calorie content. Also, if you are trying to lose weight and do it the right way, which it sounds like you are, then I would suggest getting the "Lean for Life" book from Lindora (about 20 dollars). If you follow it to a "T" you will lose weight, and in a healthly amount of time. It teaches you how to eat right and to incorporate exercise into your life, which is essential to healthy weight loss. You have to be careful to not lose muscle instead of fat.

Here are the links to both:

You may be able to get both of these books from http://www.amazon.com/ for cheaper.

  5. Only about 400 calories. . .

    Special K & milk: 210 calories

    Tuna: 80 calories

    Apple: 80 calories

2-3 strawberries: 20 calories  (just estimates)

You really need to be eating more for this diet to be considered healthy. Scraping anywhere below a 1200 calorie diet is not very wise and could put your body into starvation mode.

Unless you intend to pig out on dinner with 900+ calories, or have additional meals to push you beyond 1200 calories, eat more earlier in the day.

May I suggest you try a Shrimp pasta with veggies incorporated, with a couple of sides, such as mashed potatoes and a fruit salad.

Approximately 700 calories, depending on the sizes of the portions.
