How many calories should I consume daily at my age? Actually, I'm on a diet but I don't know if I'm eating the right foods to lose weight like today for breakfast I ate oatmeal and 5 pistachios and cranberry cookies and then for lunch I ate a tuna sandwich and then for a snack I ate 2 yogurts I ate a lot of grapes and I ate some carrots and I also had a few slices of cheddar cheese

  1. The formula is simple for losing and maintaining weight: consume less calories than you burn to lose weight; consume the same amount you burn to maintain weight. It varies from person to person, lifestyle to lifestyle. The average daily recommendation is 2,000- but this is only an average to base your own personal amount on.

That's it. Nothing more complicated than that.

  2. depending on how active you are, id say about 2000 - 2500 or so.

  3. 2000

  4. It depends on your height and frame size.  Assuming your around 5'6" with a medium frame, and you weigh 135 lbs, which is a good weight for that height and body frame.  So if you want to maintain that weight, you take that and divide by 2.2 (to get your desired weight in kilograms), (61kg), and multiply that by 0.9 (if you're female) (which is 5.49) and that result by 24 (hours per day) to get your Basic Metabolic Rate (number of calories you need just to sustain life), which in your case is 1317 calories, just to sustain organ function.

Ok, now add 1% for a sedentary lifestyle (or multiply by 1.01), 2% for a mildly active lifestyle (multiply by 1.02), 3% for an active lifestyle (mulitply by 1.03), or 4% if you're an athlete (multiply by 1.04).

Just guessing, you'll fall into the mildly active lifestyle as most people do.  Multiply 1317 by 1.02 and you get 1343, the number of calories you will need to sustain 135 lbs., if you're a 5'6" female with a fairly active lifestyle.

  5. 2000 but do a lot of exercise

  6. 2000 is the daily reccommended amount for average adults. when losing weight you should lower that amount. by how much? not sure. depends on your goal.nothing drastic. water diets and things like that will fatigue you and they are not healthy
